Agalis Manessi

Agalis Manessi is a distinguished ceramic artist whose work honours the rich tradition of maiolica ceramics. Drawing inspiration from diverse sourcesincluding Italian Istoriato dishes, humble folk wares, and Renaissance painters such as Pisanello and Gentile da Fabrianoshe creates pieces that blend historical influences with contemporary sensibilities. Her subjects encompass vessels, modelled figures, and characterful animals, including cats, dogs, and hares, all brought to life through her painterly approach and confident brushwork.

Born in Corfu, Greece, Manessi studied at the Central School of Art and Design in London, where she developed her unique style. She has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad. Her work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times Style Magazine and TOAST magazine.

Manessi is a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association and a Brother of the Art Workers' Guild. Her dedication to maiolica ceramics and her ability to infuse traditional techniques with contemporary themes have established her as a prominent figure in the field.
