Beatrice Larkin

Beatrice Larkin is a British textile designer based in Margate, Kent, celebrated for her distinctive woven fabrics characterised by softened geometric patterns and a restrained colour palette. Her designs are deeply influenced by her hand-drawn sketches, which are seamlessly integrated into the final woven pieces, capturing the essence of her initial inky lines and blotches. This approach results in fabrics that embody a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics.

Larkin's design process begins with sketches inspired by various sources, including traditional weave structures, grids, graphs, and the Bauhaus movement. These sketches are then transformed into intricate weaves, focusing on both the structure and design of the cloth. Production takes place in the North of England, where she collaborates with skilled manufacturers who understand the care and attention needed for high-end textiles. The fabrics are woven in small runs at a Jacquard mill in Lancashire and then washed and finished in the Yorkshire Dales.

In 2024, Larkin was recognised as the Member of the Month by Enterprise Nation, highlighting her contributions to the textile industry. Her collections, including those made from merino wool and recycled cotton, are available through various outlets, reflecting her commitment to promoting British craft and sustainable practices.
