Laura Plant

Laura Plant is a ceramic artist and designer based in Stoke-on-Trent, England, renowned for her sculptural vessels crafted from porcelain. Drawing inspiration from historical forms, she meticulously throws and turns each piece to expose the unique qualities of the ceramic surface. Her work reflects a passion for historical ceramics, stripping back ornamentation to reimagine forms with new grandeur.

After completing her MA in Ceramic Design at Staffordshire University, Laura has exhibited her work extensively across the UK. In 2019, she was recognised with the British Ceramics Biennial Fresh prize. Currently, she works from her studio in Stoke-on-Trent and serves as a designer for Wedgwood. In 2021, Laura undertook a residency with the British Ceramics Biennial, leading to the creation of her 'Trials' series. This collection explores form in thrown porcelain, with vessels thrown in sections and turned to reveal the marks from turning. The glazes used are her own recipes, adding depth and character to each piece.
